Early on in my walk with God he did some radical changes that would prepare me to get deeper healing, God delivered me from cigarette addiction here is my testimony.
Cigarette Addiction-how it started
I started smoking cigarettes at the age of 16. I was a curious teenager that wanted to feel independent to do whatever I wanted.
Then I involved myself with the wrong crowd and dabbled into things I had no business doing at that age, and cigarettes was one of those things.
Before I knew it, I was addicted, and it became a nasty habit that I constantly did.
Cigarette Addiction-abused habit
As I grew so did this addiction, with growth comes all kinds of emotions whether good or bad.
Cigarette smoking became a habit I abused because at any point I experienced anything where my emotions where heightened I would smoke.
It was something I did in my social circles that seemed to be the normal thing to do.
For a long time, I kept it a secret from those around me that I knew wouldn’t approve.
Truly I was delusional to think no one would notice!
As a young girl I was so confused and lacked so much identity that I fell into many wrongs.
And the ones who loved me didn’t know how to handle that.
Cigarette Addiction-toxic escape
Years passed and I became a young mother!
I remember I stopped smoking during the pregnancy because I was so motivated by this great responsibility.
It lasted for a short while after my first child was born, but as soon as stress came so did the vicious addiction.
In this time, I had no relationship with God, I felt the burden of my life was all on me.
And so, with deep stress, worry and anxiety this was my toxic escape.
Life went on, and with it many deep experiences in between.
A Radical Encounter
At the height of all the destruction in my life I reached a breaking point and radically Jesus Christ stepped in.
I gave him my life and he began a work greater than what I had any capability of understanding.
Let me tell you about the power of God!
At was 26 in this time so that’s 10 years of smoking cigarettes and so young.
Anyone that has had this addiction knows that it can feel impossible to be rid of it.
4 months into walking with God, I was a baby spiritually, I felt lead to so my first fast.
Most Christians do a 21 day etc. fast in the beginning of the year.
Somehow, I had a courage and determination in me that I could do this, now I know that was none other than God.
There was no way I alone had such strength and confidence.
But I knew that my heart felt a pull towards God, and I wanted more then anything to go deeper with him.
In this time while I was seeking him, I still smoked and still enforce the abusive habit when I felt anxious or stressed.
If I am honest with myself this addiction was taking place of God in my life.
He is the only one that could bring peace and freedom to my soul.
It was all so radical and truly a move of God!
3 days before embarking on this fast I got baptized and I felt a shift in my spirit, I felt a supernational transition over my whole being.
Breaking Habits
January 1st came, and I went cold turkey while also completely changing my eating habits and it hit my body hard to say the least!
The first week I laid down a lot and had a hard time doing much.
But every time I felt the urge to smoke, or I felt week I called on the name of God and I pleaded to him to remove this addiction from me.
As the days went on, I became stronger and stronger, and I felt this demonic bondage break off me!
As you can see by the title God delivered me from my addiction to cigarettes!
After 10 years of smoking, since that January 1st 2020, that I went cold turkey and sought God for my deliverance I haven’t touched a cigarette.
Glory to God!
God Delivered me-he can do it for you
The purpose of this testimony is that you will know that if he did it for me, he will do it for you.
Want to know how you can receive your deliverance, here are three facts to get you there.
- God delivers those he finds in bondage.
- Deliverance doesn’t always come immediately, but it will come to those who prepare for their deliverance and wait on the lord.
- Deliverance comes by obedience to Gods direction and will for our lives.
Be encouraged and increase your faith because he can do it!
The evidence is in the word of God!
Deliverance Scripture
- Galatians 5:1- It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
- James 4:7- Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- Psalms 32:7- You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
- Psalms 34:4- I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
- Isaiah 43:18-19- Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past, See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
I leave you with this, never be ashamed of your testimony because it is the evidence of the greatness of God.
Share all that God has done with joy knowing that;
you have triumphed over him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
