The word of God says for everything there is a season. Embracing changing seasons isn’t always easy and natural.
It is important that we do not become attached to our seasons.
Attachment hinders the opportunity for a change of season.
Oftentimes we get comfortable when we find something or a routine that works for us.
And when we find that good moment we become so attached that at the moment of something going slightly wrong we feel like we’re losing our marbles and we do not know how to handle that shift.
What this can cause is for us to get in the way of God to freely move in our lives.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
You cant accelerate your season but you can prolong it.
Prolonging a Season
We would like to think that nothing we do can affect our future.
However that is far from the truth, let me prove it to you .
Let’s look into the word of God!
Deuteronomy 1-3
1 These are the words Moses spoke to all Israel in the wilderness east of the Jordan—that is, in the Arabah—opposite Suph, between Paran and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth and Dizahab. 2 (It takes eleven days to go from Horeb to Kadesh Barnea by the Mount Seirroad.)
3 In the fortieth year, on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses proclaimed to the Israelites all that the Lord had commanded him concerning them.
It should have taken the Israelites 11 days to cross into the promise land but instead it took them 40 years because of disobedience to the lords commands.
Now this is the perfect example of how we can prolong a season.
Let’s go deeper!
Let’s talk about 5 things that can prolong our seasons.
5 things that prolongs a season
- Impatience
- Fear
- Lack of faith
- Poor mentality
- Controlling
Let’s be honest, it is a humans natural nature to unconsciously be led by our immediate emotion.
We are creatures that like to have control, know and see everything ahead.
Additionally we become impatient when things are not happening at the pace we want them too.
And so we fear the unknown and what appears like nothing is happening.
That very fear that can become crippling will lead to lack of faith.
Lack of faith stems from unbelief that God will carry out his word over our life’s.
Simply because our surroundings are not looking like the promise.
All these things have a deeper root which is a poor mentality.
Although we have the desire and want for greater.
when we are used to seeing something less then the great promises of God it’s hard to believe for more.
And lastly we are so afraid of failing and struggle to change our mindsets that we will attempt to control the process.
All I can say is that in those very moments is when you will experience a breaking of your flesh.
These are the parts that feel so hard and confusing.
We think that it means we are never getting to the promise land but instead God is digging deeper to the root of doubt.
Breaking away all the old creature, refining you, shaping you, renewing your mind.
Focusing on what we see instead of what God has promised will create unbelief and desire to forfeit out of fear and discontent.
When we realize that getting to the promise land is more about the process leading us to it rather than actually getting there it all changes.
Alignment in changing seasons
Although it can be easy to make mistakes in the process of embracing changing of seasons, Gods grace is greater then our weaknesses.
God desires the best for us and so God always gives us instructions in every season wether that is to be still or to move.
Staying in alignment can be an easier act than it is to prolong a season.
See, the only one with the power and control is God!
And he will ask us to be still, but here’s the twist usually at the same time he promises something appearing impossible.
Our nature feels like we have to move and take control because “how God ?’’.
Quietly and so effortlessly he whispers “be still, and know that I am God”.
Now here is where the true test of faith begins.
5 ways to be in alignment with changing seasons
- Faith
- Patience
- Diligently seeking God
- Kingdom mentality
- Surrender
While most of us will struggle embracing changing seasons, one thing is for sure we want to do our best.
We want to be in alignment with the will God.
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
The reality is we cannot expect the will of God in our lives to come to pass without faith.
Faith is so powerful, believing in the impossible what cannot be seen.
Knowing who your God is, that he is not a man that he shall lie.
Faith is more about believing that our God not only exist, he is real, he is righteous, just, he does not break promises.
He is perfect in every way… truly there is no one like him!
And so in our faith we remain in deeper alignment with patience.
Casting all anxiety and worry to the Lord and trusting in him through every circumstance.
Embracing changing of seasons is a time to diligently seek God.
When worry and fear come to distract, rather seek him deeper then ever.
In these times he is closer than ever ready to provide your every need to ensure you land in safety.
He’s such a faithful father.
Seek his face, pray about everything, tell him your every thought and feeling.
Ask him for direction and patiently wait for an answer.
In doing this you will begin to adapt a kingdom mentality.
You will begin to see that your promises are bigger then you.
His plan is greater, bigger, better.
Lastly, surrender all things at his feet, loose all control and trust in the Lord.
For only he is capable of what man cannot do on his own.
Conclusion
Recognize that as the word of God says there is a season for everything; there is a time to be around community/ friends and a time for only intimacy between you and God.
Remember above all things this is the time to grow your relationship with God.
The greater test in the process will be; will you forget him when you receive the harvest he has promised.
Believe it or not our humanely nature is capable of doing such a thing.
But when we allow the process to refine us we die to our flesh so that our spirit may be exalted.
To carry out the perfect will of God for his glory.
